UGC isn’t “the future of marketing” anymore. It’s the present. In 2026, 60-70% of our clients’ paid budgets go on UGC creative. Not because it’s trendy. Because it performs 2-4x better on CAC than professional productions.
Why it works
The 2026 audience filters ads in the first second. A clip shot on a phone, natural light, normal voice, doesn’t look like an ad. The TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts algorithm pushes it further. CPM drops, CTR rises.
At Gillette we ran two variants on the same promise: one professionally shot, 8000 euros production; one UGC with 3 creators, 1200 euros total. The UGC variant had 3.2x higher ROAS. Same promise, same audience, 6.5x lower cost.
UGC doesn’t mean “a random creator”
Classic mistake: “we find someone cheap on TikTok, give them the product, see what comes out”. What comes out is rarely useful.
UGC that converts has three ingredients: a creator who fits your audience, a very concrete brief on hook and story, creative freedom on execution. If any of these is missing, it comes out weak.
The brief that works
At Muller we use a one-page brief. It contains: the audience (who is the person you’re talking to), the exact hook (first 2 seconds, word for word), the pain point to attack, what NOT to say (legal or brand traps), the final CTA.
We don’t write the script word for word. If we do, the clip sounds read. The creator gets the direction, says it in their own words.
How many creators you need
For a campaign that scales: minimum 8-12 creators, 3-5 clips each. Total 30-50 assets per month. Of those, 5-8 will perform well. The rest you archive.
At Motorola we always test 10 creators in parallel in the first month, keep 3 for monthly collaboration. The “fit” success rate is 30%. It’s not a failure, it’s the necessary math.
What you pay for a UGC clip
In Romania, 2026: 150-400 euros for a new creator, 500-1500 euros for creators with proven track record and clear niche. Paid usage rights separate, 50-100% on top of the rate.
It’s not worth paying under 100 euros. Creators at that price either don’t have experience, or don’t take the job seriously. The cost of editing and revisions exceeds the saving.
Where you find creators
Platforms like TikTok Creator Marketplace are a starting point, but quality is inconsistent. Better: search manually on TikTok and Instagram, filter by consistency (post 3+ times a week for at least 6 months), check real engagement (not followers), reach out directly.
Classic mistake: UGC as total replacement
UGC doesn’t replace everything. For big launches, branding campaigns, complex technical demonstrations, professional production stays necessary. UGC is for the bottom of the funnel: performance, retargeting, fast A/B testing.
If your paid budget exceeds 10k euros a month and you don’t have at least 20 new UGC assets monthly, you have a cost problem. Solve it in the next 60 days or competitors will be running with much lower costs than yours.
